International Polar Bear Day and Crypto Baby Animals

Today is International Polar Bear Day! It's a day to learn about polar bears and support efforts to protect them. This is the time of year when the mothers and their babies are snug in their dens, waiting for spring to arrive.

I am currently working on a new set of Crypto-Animals puzzles that is all about the babies! These puzzles will focus on decimal operations practice so are most appropriate for 5th grade and up (maybe 4th, depending on your students abilities). Just click on the puzzle you see above to download a sample that is all about baby polar bears!

For this type of puzzle, students will first solve all the decimal problems at the top of the page. Then they will use their answers paired with the indicated letters to complete the clues at the bottom of the page. When they read and study the clues, they should be able to guess the mystery baby animal! So this does require not talking about polar bears before you give them the puzzle or they will already know the answer! If students don't know what a baby polar bear is called (or can't figure out the animal), they can also solve the hints under the answer blanks to then find the letters that will reveal the animal.

Here are some links to explore more about polar bears:

And a cute video!

I hope your students enjoy learning about polar bears this week!

Valentine's Day Code Breakers

Happy Heart Day! It is one of the silliest holidays, but I'll take some chocolates please!

Today I have some Code Breakers filled with Valentine's Day related words for your kids to decode. There are 4 puzzles altogether, and they are quite straightforward and great for younger kids. Just click on the picture above to download all 4 puzzles plus answers.

Please remember that many school networks block Google Drive. If you are having trouble downloading the files, try downloading from home. When I get requests for access, I am unable to email back to explain the problem because even emails from Google are blocked! I apologize for the inconvenience.

Hope you get some nice (covid-free) hugs today!

Valentine's Day Sequence Maze

Valentine's Day is about to arrive again! The years really fly by quickly sometimes. :-(

Here is another Sequence Maze for your kids to solve. This one is Valentine's Day themed and is filled with sweet treats!

In other news, I started working a full-time job about 3 months ago. It's been quite exhausting so I don't have a lot of time to put into my TpT store or the blog. But I am trying to get motivated and back to work anyway. Hopefully more exciting things will be coming soon!
